<p><strong>Australian Pre-Decimal Coins</strong></p>
<p>In 1910 Australia first introduced pre-decimal coinage with release of threepences, sixpences, shillings, and florins (2 shillings). In 1911 half pennies and pennies were also release. &nbsp;The values of the coinage were the same pounds, shillings, and pence system (<span style="font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19.1875px;">&pound;</span> s d) as used in Great Britain. That is, 12 pence to the shilling, and 20 shillings to the pound (240 pennies to the&nbsp;<span style="font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19.1875px;">&pound;</span>). During the 66 years of pre-decimal coins in Australia coins were minted at Royal Mint branches in London, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Calcutta, and Bombay. Coins were also minted at the Heaton Mint in Wales and during World War II at branches of the US Mint in San Francisco and Denver.</p>
