The 1964 Melbourne penny is typically very well struck and the most easily found Australian penny in choice uncirculated grade or better. It is also one of the easiest to find in full red. Rolls of 1964 Melbourne pennies are reasonably common which explains the relative abundance of high grade coins of this year and mint. Grade collectors should look for a well struck example in full read or the glossy smooth maroon colour that these coins so often have. A coin that grades MS64 should be easy to find, a MS65 should be the goal of the more advanced collector while these coins are rare in MS66.
Coin Information
|
